Praneel Naidu, 23, is hoping for a good performance when the Vodafone Lautoka football team faces Team Wellington in the first leg of the OFC Champions League final on Sunday at the Park Wellington.

The left midfield back scored the winning goal against Marist FC 1-0 in the second leg semi-final at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara last month.

Lautoka won on aggregate 3-2, after a 1-1 draw in Lautoka.

“This is another big break for me and I’m looking forward to this match,” he said.

“We know the odds playing overseas but we have to take our chances.”

Striker Osea Vakatalesau will make his second OFC Champions League final after he featured for Ba in 2007.

Valatalesau played alongside his elder brother Peni Finau and Jone Vesikula where the side won 1-0 at Govind Park in Ba and lost 2-0 to Auckland City in New Zealand.

“The boys are ready to give their best. It is important to get a win or draw since it will be an advantage when playing our second game at home,”he said.

“In 2007, we did not have a professional coaching panel. Now we have national coach Christopher Gamel assisting us with the game plan.”

The winners of the 2018 Oceania Champions League will feature in the 2018 Club World Cup.

The second leg will be played on May 19 at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
