Wicked Walu celebrates First Anniversary

Wicked Walu restaurant at the Warwick Fiji Resort on the Coral Coast celebrated its first anniversay of being number one out of 387 restaurants in Fiji on Trip Advisor.
Warwick general manager Charles Homsy, staff and guests celebrated in style on Tuesday night.
Mr Homsy said: “Definitely a very important day for my team and I at the resort.
“The journey to Number 1 began on March 12, 2017, where the service team got together and discussed that it’s time to actualise the vision.
“That day the Wicked Walu Restaurant was on 42, the team made a plan that within three months they will be number one.
“The secret of success is the people, the quality of service and great teamwork and interdepartmental co-operation within the resort.”
It did not take three months and on May 8, 2017, Wicked Walu Restaurant took the centre stage over other restaurants in Fiji on Trip Advisor.
“The technology and internet has played an important role in getting us this recognition.
“The resort along with its staff and community has benefited a lot from this recognition. This has enabled us to create direct and indirect employment thus benefitting us all,” he said.
Mr Homsy conveyed a special thanks to their guests, the staff and the management team at the resort.
“The lesson of this success has been learnt and we are continuously striving to do better each day, attaining a goal is important and retaining it is equally important, I thank each one who has played an important role in this.”
He told the guests: “I thank you (guests) once again for choosing to celebrate our success, we are happy to have you all as part of this important celebration at the resort.”
Historically, the Wicked Walu restaurant started its operation in 1983 as a seafood restaurant; the current design of the restaurant has been done by a local team consisting of a father and his son.
The Wicked Walu has stood tall considering the climate changes, cyclone and etc over the many years.
“We have carried out maintenance work three or four times, the restaurant its self is a reflection of Fiji and its cultural aspects. We have preserved local ideas and where possible used no international concept of dining,” Mr Homsy said.
