FNU Engineering College Organises Exhibition

‘Will provide an insight for all school students to the different fields of study in engineering, science and technology and various career paths available’
The Fiji National University’s engineering college organised a two-day Engineering Exhibition to showcase programmes on offer and guide prospective students to lead them to successfully attain their career goals.
The College of Engineering, Science and Technology (CEST)’s theme for the exhibition “Engineering Innovation for a Sustainable Future” underscores the need for engineers, scientists, technicians and leaders across all industries to perform their duties in a transparent and responsible manner to ensure a sustainable future for all.
The Engineering Exhibition was held at FNU’s Derrick Campus in Samabula yesterday and again today. Ba Campus will host the event today.
College Acting Dean Salabogi Mavoa said: “The Engineering Exhibition provides us an opportunity to showcase to prospective students and the public our training facilities, lecturers and projects being undertaken by our students as part of their studies.
“We have invited schools to visit our Campus in Samabula and Ba which will provide students an opportunity to see the programmes we offer and the subject combinations they need to take to pursue their career goals.
“On many occasions we have seen that students aren’t able to pursue a diploma or degree programme of their choice because of incorrect subject combinations, so through our Engineering Exhibition we will ensure that the students and parents receive accurate information to they can plan their future studies accordingly.”
About 30 schools confirmed their participation yesterday so far.
Mr Mavoa said: “This Engineering Exhibition will provide an insight for all school students to the different fields of study in engineering, science and technology and various career paths available.
“Whether it is a career in Engineering, (Civil, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical) or Science or Technology – their visit to the exhibition will help them map out their personal career choice, beginning right from where they are currently to where they want to be in the future.
“Our event is open to everyone and we welcome parents and even those in the workforce to visit the Exhibition and see the many opportunities available to assist in your career advancement.”
CEST offers more than 100 programmes from Certificate to PhD level.
