Four awards will be up for grabs for the first time in the Institute of Internal Auditors Conference 2018.

The awards are part of the two-day conference hosted at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, from June 15  to 16.

IIA Fiji vice president Viresh Chandra said: “On behalf of the internal audit profession and IIA members, the IIA works tirelessly to elevate the profession and enhance professionalism.

“IIA Fiji’s vision is to promote the the internal audit profession in Fiji and the region, and to provide training related profession.”

IIA Fiji currently has 130 active members, and is run by a small team of volunteers.

“The IIA offers excellent training for auditors.

“Through conferences, seminars customised training programmes and educational presentations.

“The IIA provides internal auditing and related professionals with the information and skills they need to stay on the leading edge,” he said.

Mr Chandra said the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and its more than 260 affiliates worldwide can help internal audit professionals excel in their career.

He said building awareness of the value of internal auditing is a key component of The IIA’s advocacy efforts.

“These programmes are offered free or at reduced costs to IIA members. The IIA also provides its members with professional Standards, certification, and a Code of Ethics – important elements to underline their professionalism and commitment to quality. The IIA’s award-winning Internal Auditor journal delivers to its member’s valuable in-depth articles on today’s issues and trends.”

May is International Internal Audit awareness month.

In order to build awareness of internal auditing all around the world, May is designated as International Internal Audit Awareness Month.

IIA Fiji is celebrating and promoting the profession this month. The theme for the conference this year is “Rise to the Challenge”.

“We expect delegates to come away from the conference educated and enlightened on prevalent matters that are affecting the global and local internal control environment,” he said.

IIA Fiji’s annual conference is well known for its after-conference gala dinner, which is themed events, providing entertainment, drinks and a world class dinner for delegates and their guests.

“After a couple of days of intense conference sessions, it is always a welcome relief. The dinner this year will include appreciation of sponsors, speakers, supporters and suppliers, as well as for the second time, an awards program, which was inaugurated last year.”
