New uniforms make refs look smart: Lee

History in the making for Match Officials of the Skipper FRU Premiership Cup and the Vodafone FRU Vanua Challenge as they wore their sponsored uniforms for the first time at last week’s Round 2 of both competitions. Officially sponsored by Fiji’s domestic airline, Fiji Link, Match Officials as far as Bua got to show off their uniforms at their respective match venues.
FRU Referee manager, Johnson Lee, thanked Fiji Link and the FRU Chief Executive Officer, John O’Connor for the new uniforms.
“In the history of the FRU, this is the first time for our local Match Officials to be sponsored and to have branded kit. I would like to thank our official sponsors Fiji Link and Mr O’Connor for their consideration and kind gesture towards the match officials who now have a uniform that they can wear with pride,” Lee said.
“The uniforms certainly boosted the performance of the MOs throughout the weekend.”
Fiji Link operates scheduled services to twelve destinations within the Fijian Islands as well as regionally within the Pacific Islands.
Fiji Rugby Union Referee Manager Johnson Lee spent a week in Vanualevu early this month on the invitation of Rugby Development Officer Lemeki Savua as part of the Development Unit’s yearly plan.
