Fiji’s judiciary welcomed another addition to its rank following the swearing-in of two resident magistrates yesterday at the State House.

Resident Magistrate Timoci Qalinauci and Resident Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili were officially sworn in by the President, His Excellency, Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote.

Mr Qalinauci holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Bachelor of Law from the University of the South Pacific.

He was admitted into the bar in 2008 as a Barrister and Solicitor for the High Court of Fiji and was the Senior Legal Officer for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions since 2013.

Alongside him, was Mr Fotofili, who graduated with a Post Graduate Certificate in Corruption Studies from the University of Hong Kong, Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Bachelor of Law from The University of the South Pacific.

He has worked as a prosecutor for 12 years with appointed posts as legal officer to manager for the Serious Crimes Division/ODPP Suva in 2015.

Chief Justice Anthony Gates, and Chief Registrar Yohan Liyanage were also present at the swearing- in ceremony.
