Suva secured their second win in the Skipper Cup Premier­ship at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday after edging Na­mosi 21-20.

Centre Meli Kurisaru kicked a penalty at fulltime to seal the win for the capital side leaving Namosi winless after three games.

What happened:

Namosi’s lack of discipline gave Suva the opportunity to draw first blood with Kurisaru kicking a pen­alty in the 4th minute, 3-0.

But in the 10th minute Alivereti Veitokani kicked a penalty for Na­mosi to draw level.

Veitokani increased Namosi’s lead with a drop goal in the 13th minute, Namosi 6-3.

Suva replied with the second pen­alty to Kurisaru, 6-6.

Namosi skipper Mosese Voka broke through the strong Suva for­wards to score their first try which was converted by Veitokani.

Halftime: Namosi 13-6 Suva.

Keeping Suva in the game, full­back Inia Tawalo scored their first try in the 48th minute, Namosi 13-11 Suva.

Namosi was flashed two yellow cards while Suva was given one.

Fresh off the bench, Sireli Ledua of Suva came in the 54th minute to score a try which was converted by Kurisaru to increase Suva’s lead 18-13.

Namosi fought back resulting in Aca Simolo to score just before full­time, Namosi 20-18 Suva.

Discipline was an issue through­out for Namosi, and referee award­ed Suva a penalty at fulltime. Kurisaru kicked a penalty and sealed the win for Suva.

Suva manager Ulaiasi Verevou said;

“I’m happy we won but we need to work on a lot of areas in our game.”

Namosi Coach Akuila Nasi said;

“Indiscipline let us down in the end and we were not playing ac­cording to plan.We need to start winning.”
