LAWYER FILES LENGTHY APPEAL AGAINST JUDGMENT

A Lautoka lawyer has filed a 26-point submission against a ruling by a High Court judge who had ordered that he pay a woman $80,000 plus costs.
Justice Mohammed Ajmeer made the order on April 3, 2018, that:
The defendants, Iftikar Iqbal Ahmed Khan a Lautoka Barrister & Solicitor, operating as Iqbal Khan and Associates, and Shah Newaz Khan, who had passed away, jointly and severally refund the sum of $37,000 to the plaintiff Shaveena Kumari of Jinnu Road, Lautoka.
Also for the defendants jointly and severally pay general damages in the sum of $20,000 and punitive damages in the sum of $30,000, totally $50,000 to the plaintiff.
The defendants jointly and severally pay costs on an indemnity (full solicitor-client) basis to be assessed before the Master, if not agreed.
