Ward, Tropik Pine Boost Maroons
The Nanukuloa rugby team play Lautoka in the Vodafone Vanua Cahmpionship at Nadovu Park today.

The Tropik Pine-sponsored Lautoka Maroons is determined to be promoted to the Skipper Cup Premiership in 2019.

The sugar city side tops the points standings with 15 points after they won all their games beating Ra 29-9, hammered Ba 54-0 and 31-10 win over Tavua last week.

Coach Osea Umuumulovo said the side is leaving no stones unturned in preparation against Nanukuloa in the Vodafone Vanua Championship today.

And in a bid to improve their performance, LRU has acquired the services of Sam Ward, a Auckland Rugby high performance coach.

Umuumulovo said, “Ward was invited by the Lautoka Rugby to help club officials and players.

“He arrived in the country on May 13 and headed straight into camp with the Maroons where he camped with the boys for a week.

$163K Boost

Lautoka Rugby has secured a $163K sponsorship for 2018.

“We are very thankful to Tropik Pine for the massive sponsorship,” he said.

The match kicks-off 3pm at Nadovu Park, Lautoka.
