Zarin Khan New FIA President

Aliz Pacific Chartered Accountants partner Zarin Khan was yesterday elected the new president of the Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA).
Mr Khan was elected at the annual general meeting which was held at the Shangri-la’s Fijian Hotel on Yanuca Island during the Institute’s annual congress.
Mr Khan, who was vice president, took over from Finau Nagera, Director Audit at the Office of the Auditor General.
Rajeshwar Singh of Bank South Pacific was elected vice president.
Two new members were elected to the committee – Ashwin Nand from Fiji Revenue and Customs Service and Pravinesh Singh from Fiji Development Fund. Jerome Kado, Sikeli Tuinamuana, Renu Chand and Nitesh Lal retained their positions.
Meanwhile Mr Khan said discussions included a look at FIA’s strategic plan that was approved by the members in 2017 and was still being implemented.
“For this year we hope to get a new Act and which is expected to be brought to Parliament this year.
“We hope to have the new regulations enacted there too.”
Mr Khan said the new regulations were mainly being brought in to modernise FIA.
