The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has begun the installation of mid-block pedestrian crossing traffic signals on Rodwell Road and Stinson Parade Bridge.

FRA’s acting general manager electrical, Musheer Khan, said they would also upgrade 11 traffic signal sites in the coming months under the Traffic Signal Maintenance Programme.

“The installation of the two new mid-block pedestrian crossing traffic signals will enable a safe crossing for pedestrians along these two busy routes and will also allow the efficient flow of vehicular traffic,” Mr Khan said.

“They will work to keep disruptions to a minimum and works which require lane closures will be carried out during off peak hours.”

All works at Rodwell Rd and Stinson Bridge is anticipated to be completed over the next four weeks.

Meanwhile, upgrading of the traffic signal lanterns on Mark and Thompson Street have been completed while works on the Nabua traffic signals are in progress.

The upcoming traffic signal lantern upgrading are at Lakeba Street, Samabula FNU, Grantham Rd, Cunningham Rd, Centre Point and the Laqere intersection.
