No Guns Missing From Armory: RFMF

Brigadier-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai says no guns are missing from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces armory.

The RFMF Chief of Staff was responding to speculations that guns were missing from its armory.

Brigadier-General Ro Joni said all the ammunition and weapons stock were accounted for and have not been reported missing.

Speculation had surfaced in some quarters after a bag of ammunition was found along the roadside in Lautoka last week.

Last Friday at Navula Road junction in Lautoka, a 54-year-old man found a garbage bag containing a green pouch with 1 x 30 rounds and two loose calibre 5.56mm bullets and reported the matter to Police.

Brigadier-General Ro Jone said the RFMF team in Lautoka was investigating the matter. He expects to get an updated report today.

As for the findings of the investigations he said a board of inquiry would be held later to further investigations on the matter.

Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho had clarified that the ammunition found last Friday were different from those found last year.
