The Labasa football side will need to lift their performance if they are to beat Ba in tonight’s Vodafone Fiji FACT clash at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

Dubbed the Babasiga Lions they fought hard to beat neighbours Dreketi 2-0 in their pool opener yesterday.

Veteran midfielder Pita Bolaitoga told SUNsports there are areas of their game that they need to work on.

“It was not a good start for us,” the former Hekari United rep said.

It was a scrappy start for Labasa as they missed numerous scoring opportunities through Taniela Waqa and Antonio Tuivuna in the first spell.

Labasa lifted the momentum in the second half and striker Anare Apenisa scored the first goal in the 55th minute before Bolaitoga made it 2-0 right on fulltime.

Dreketi coach/ player Thomas Vulivuli said they had several scoring opportunities but the players failed to utilised it.

“Overall, I’m impressed with the players for putting on a gutsy performance,” he added
