Gamel Sticks With Fiji

Vodafone Fijian football head coach Christophe Gamel has renewed his contract for another four years. The announcement was made by Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel during the opening of the Vodafone Fiji FACT 2018 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, yesterday.
He took over as head coach on December 31, 2016.
Gamel told SUNsports that he had declined offers from overseas clubs as he felt that he needs to complete his job here.
“I feel my work here in Fiji is not yet complete,” Gamel said.
“I made goals for 2018 and I need to accomplish them and finish my job before moving on with my coaching career. I have my own methodology of work which has brought success to my teams in the past and I hope I can achieve the same with Fiji.
“My task is to build for the future and we will need everyone to be involved and we respect our opponents as we know that they are strong.”
The 45-year-old said there is still a lot of work to be done.
“There is a drastic need to implement a culture of excellence so that Fijian football teams are able to compete at the highest level and achieve the desired results.”
Gamel said they are working towards Fiji qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Nothing is impossible. It does not take one man to achieve the aim, it’s the whole federation and we have been working well towards achieving our goals,” he added
