The Lusia Dakuwaqa cap­tained- QAQA Namosi wom­en’s rugby side came from behind to upset BLK Nadroga 22-19 in the Skipper Cup Premiership at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.

What happened: Namosi started strongly as they scored a try to Taraivini Sydney in the 2nd min­ute. The visitors were a player short in the 6th minute when Esit­eri Bulikiobo copped a yellow card and Nadroga took advantage of the situation with flanker Waini­kiti Deku running in their first try which was converted for a 7-5 lead.

The Stallions extended their lead to 14-5 when Senimelia Waqa scored the second try before Namosi hit back with a Sereima Rauqe try.

Halftime: Namosi 12- 14 Nadroga.

Nadroga had a bad start when La­nieta Vateqe was yellow carded and minutes she was joined by Namo­si’s Laila Cakaunivalu. In the 21st minute Melea Salusalu increased Nadroga’s lead to 19-12 before Na­mosi replied with two tries to Sisi­lia Tinai.

Big play: Sydney read the game well and dictated Namosi’s game.

Comments: Namosi captain Lusia Dakuwaqa said: “We needed this win and it was in the second half we worked extra hard since Nadro­ga was a worthy opponent.”

Nadroga captain Deku said: “There was a lot of loose balls as we did not communicate well and it led to our downfall.”
