The Jack’s Nadi football officials are taking their case to the Fiji Football Association to allow three of their key players to play in Saturday’s Vodafone Fiji FACT semifinal clash against Labasa.

The players are star strikers Rusiate Matirerega, Napolioni Qasevakatini and stylish midfielder Afraz Ali. The players received two yellow cards each during the pool eliminations and will have to miss the next game.

Nadi Football Association president, Javed Ahmed confirmed this yesterday indicating that they’re hoping that at least two players are able to take the field against Labasa.

He said playing Labasa would be tough and they are hoping to have their full strength team ready by Friday.

“That is when we’ll know the outcome of our case with Fiji FA on the three players. We’re trying to put up a case to Fiji FA that the ground conditions were not really good and some of the tackles made were not really the players’ fault as they were not able to control themselves on the slippery surface.”

Ahmed said the players are still recovering and they would start their training today.

“It was a very tough game against Suva and we arrived in Nadi late Sunday night. Today is all about recovery and looking at the state of the players as we work on our game plan against Labasa.”

He added that the players are eager to take on the next challenge as their confidence level has gone up.

“The pressure situation we faced saw that fighting spirit come out of the boys and we are going to keep that as we prepare for Labasa.”

Meanwhile, Labasa are expected to field defender Ilisoni Logaivau after he had served his one-match suspension.

The Anand Sami- coached side are keeping a low profile.

The match kicks-off at 2pm at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.
