Two men believed to be in their 40s are admitted at the Lautoka Hospital after they sustained serious injuries in a road accident yesterday near Votualailai in Nadroga.

According to a witness, the two men were in a three-tonne truck loaded with frozen meat when the driver allegedly lost control near a bend, which landed the truck in a ditch just a few metres from the road.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the incident happened at around 5am.

“The two men in the truck were then taken to the Sigatoka Hospital after the vehicle they were in veered off the road and overturned. Both were trapped in the vehicle, but with the help of the National Fire Authority they were taken out,” she said.

Police investigation continues.

An official based at the Sigatoka Hospital had confirmed that the duo had been transferred to the Lautoka Hospital due to the severity of the injuries they sustained.
