Justice Gounder Is Acting President
President in Samoa to attend celebration
President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote is in Samoa to attend the nation’s 56th anniversary of Independence celebration.
President Konrote flew to Samoa on Wednesday and will return on Sunday.
The Acting Chief Justice, Justice Daniel Gounder, will act as President. Chief Justice Anthony Gate is in Sri Lanka.
While in Samoa, President Konrote will pay courtesy calls on both the Head of State His Highness Tuimalealiifano Sualauvi II, and the Head of Government Tuilaepa Malielegaoi, thus continuing to strengthen the two nations’ relations at the highest diplomatic level.
He is accompanied by the First Lady, his Official Secretary Pene Baleinabuli and Principal Foreign Service Officer Vilikesa Naivalucava.
