Commission expects to file charges against traders on Monday

Joel Abraham has confirmed that charges will be filed against some traders on Monday in relation to the Government’s Cyclone Assistance Relief Effort (CARE) initiative.
The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) chief executive officer said as per the findings of their investigations on 43 traders, some of these traders will be charged for possible breaches under the FCCC Act 2010. During the course of the investigations, certain traders had been identified to be allegedly contravening provisions of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission Act 2010 (FCCC Act 2010).
He said charges will be filed on Monday for legal action to be taken against the traders.
Earlier this week, 43 traders, most from the Western and the Central Division were issued notices querying why there were price variations on the items purchased under the Homes-CARE and Farms-CARE. initiatives.
