Our regular letter contributor, Satish Nakched, has once again won a prize for his outstanding and insightful writing.

Mr Nakched won a Philips juicer thanks to Courts.

In his letter he said the introduction of the Styrofoam as a form of packaging had made life easier but was also a source of littering if the product was not disposed correctly.

Speaking to the Fiji Sun by phone, he said it is a norm that in many functions such as weddings and parties the Styrofoam packs are used for takeaways as a cost saving measure and many people opt to use this instead of paper plates.

He said he is making people aware off the impact of not disposing Styrofoam properly.

“The usage will increase and the general awareness needs to be increased highlighting the problems associated with it,” Mr Nakched said.

He appreciated his win and would continue writing letters.

Mr Nakched’s wife, Neena Naraan, was at Courts Rodwell Road in Suva to receive the prize on her husband’s behalf.
