The Bobi siblings won medals at the National Schools Swimming Championships at the Damodar Aquatic Centre, Suva yesterday.

Attending Swami Vivekananda College in Nadi, 16-year-old Mosese won three gold medals by claiming the 50 metre butterfly, 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle while Ema, 14, won a gold medal in the 200m butterfly and a silver in the 100m butterfly.

Mosese said coming from a family of six where they are all swimmers have really boosted them. The Savusavu lad said since they were part of the Nadi Barracudas squad they had prepared well for the championship.

“We really prepared well before we came for the competition and we trained together during our club meet,” Mosese said.

“It is good having my sister with me and she was helping me in every event I took part in. My parents always taught us to practice discipline and maintain composure when under pressure and that really drives us on.”

Their younger sister Katarina who represented Namaka Public School (primary school) broke a record in the Under-11 200m butterfly with a time of 3 miutes and 8 secs.

Katarina who was a lone swimmer in that event said she saw the time set by Chanel Marley in 2012 and was determined to break it.
