The Naitasiri Women’s rugby team thumped Navosa 19-0 in the sixth round of the Skipper Cup Premiership at Naluwai ground yesterday.

Following their defeat to Suva last week, the young Naitasiri side took on the challenge and scored their opening try through Torika Ratubusa, who also kicked over the conversion as they led 7-0 at halftime.

The women-in-black continued to pressure the visitors in the second half where they scored tries to Viniana Lewarara and Teresia Caberi while Ratubusa managed to kicked over a conversion.

Ani Mei who received the Player of the Match award said, the onus was on them to perform.

“Our game against Navosa was different from all our other games,” she said.

“We really rose to the challenge. We knew people of our province were watching us on our home soil so we need to improve on our game.”

The Koro, Lomaiviti native was impressed with their defensive strategy.

“ We really improved on our defence and we played as a team and got the result that we had wanted.”

Navosa Women’s captain Miliana Bose said they had given their best.

“Naitasiri played a good game and they deserve the win,” she added.
