The Labasa football side are ready to take on Rewa in the final of the Vodafone Fiji FACT tournament at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori on Sunday.

Coach Bal Sanju Reddy said resilience is the team’s weapon after they beat Nadi 2-0 in the first semifinal at Churchill Park, Lautoka yesterday.

After a scrappy start Labasa took a 1-0 in the 18th minute from a Ilisoni Logaivau goal. Logaivau who is back from a one-match suspension sealed the win in the 50th minute with his second goal.

Nadi coach Bavs Khan told SUNsports that indiscipline and lack of experience are the contributing factors of their downfall.

“Labasa had more experienced players compared to us,” he said.

“We missed the services of our three experienced players who are serving their one-match ban. If they were here then it would have been the other way around.”

The suspended players are strikers Napolioni Qasevakatini, Rusiate Matirerega and midfielder Alfaz Ali.

Khan said the new players lacked discipline when the pressure mounted on them.

When approached Labasa coach Reddy said they were fortunate that Nadi did not score in the first 20 minutes.

“There were areas of our play that Nadi exploited today so we will need to work on them.”

Reddy also praised their substitute players for lifting the tempo of the game when they came on the field.
