The Fijian naval vessel Kula is now back on its normal sea patrol after taking part at Exercise Croix du Sud Ex 2018 (Ex CDS18) in New Caledonia last month.

Lieutenant Commander Timoci Natuva (Junior) said the exercise ended on May 25 and the Kula with 22 sailors berthed at Lautoka on May 28.

“They refilled and went back on patrol,” he said.

He said the 22 sailors had learnt a lot from the exercise.

The exercise was designed to ensure that all involved were prepared for major Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.

Meanwhile he said the New Zealand naval vessel the HMNZS Taupo would leave Suva today for its first patrol of Fiji’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

Fijian Navy Commander Captain (Navy) Humphrey Tawake said four Fijian sailors would be part of the first patrol. Edited by Percy Kean
