PM’s Words Of Wisdom For New Navy Sailors

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has reminded new sailors to always be obedient to their superiors.

He has also reminded them of their debt to those who got them where they are today.

“This is not about your financial debts, but your debts to your parents and to those who contributed to your up-bringing,” the Prime Minister said.

This was during the Fijian Navy monthly church service (Vulavou) at the Stanley Brown Naval Base in Walu Bay, Suva.

“Now that you’re part of the Fiji Navy family you must listen to your bosses and also the spiritual advice from your chaplain.”

Mr Bainimarama said as new members of the Fijian Navy family they have to listen to their leader, the Commander Navy, to persevere in their duties and secure their place at work.

“If you’re not going to be obedient and listen, your boss will simply tell you to leave and find another job,” the former Fijian Navy Commander said.

The chaplain, he said, would give advice about values based on Christian principles.

“You will never go wrong with his advice,” Mr Bainimarama said.

He thanked the new sailors and said that their new work would be demanding.

The Fijian Navy he said was getting stronger every year and they should contribute positively and faithfully in whatever they were assigned to.

He reminded them to pay their debts.

“This is not your financial debts, but your debts to your parents and to those who contributed to your upbringing,” Mr Bainimarama said.

“These are the people who moulded you to what you are today.

“Show these people that you care for their support and help them when they need you.”

Mr Bainimarama assured them that he would be with them again in the July monthly church service.
