State Requests More Time For Robbery Case

State counsel yesterday requested for more time to resolve the proposed agreed facts in the case involv­ing two men who allegedly stole $43,200 worth of items on Octo­ber 28, 2016.

Director of Public Prosecu­tions lawyer Saif Shah said the trial was scheduled for October 1to 12, 2018 and the only pre-trial matter left to settle was the agreed facts.

The two men namely Asesela Niubasaga and Samisoni Waqa­vatu are charged with one count of aggravated robbery.

On the day of the alleged inci­dent the two men with others al­legedly robbed the complainant in Samabula.

They stole a steel safe valued at $1000, $11,000 cash, assorted liquor valued at $1100, assorted jewelleries valued at $15,000, AUD$4000 cash, one couch bag valued at $2000, assorted clothes valued at $300, a Samsung mo­bile phone valued at $800 and a Suzuki van valued at $8000.

The total value of the com­plainant’s property is $43,200.

Both men have been further re­manded in custody. The case has been adjourned to July 6, 2018 for pre-trial conference.
