The late Tui Wailevu, Roko Dewala Niumataiwalu, will be remembered by his children as someone who puts other people first before himself.

He passed away on May 23 and will be laid to rest at the Sautabu Cemetry in Wailevu, outside Labasa Town today.

His son, Marika Modro Niumataiwalu said they were saddened by his father’s passing away.

“My father was a good man who always tried to do his best for the people. He was someone who was selfless and has always been there for everyone,” Mr Niumataiwalu said.

“He has done a lot for the village and our family and we as his children will forever be grateful to him for showing us the way we should go.”

Mr Niumataiwalu said his father‘s health started to deteriorate after he celebrated his 82nd birthday.

“My father died at the age of 84, but we started to notice that after he turned 82 he started to get weak. My father has done his duty to the Government (matanitu), vanua and his family.”

The late Tui Wailevu Roko Dewala Niumataiwalu is survived by his wife, six children and 15 grandchildren.
