Be Persistent as a Journalist

Growing up, Inoke Malovesi always admired the work journalists and media reporters do. It follows suit that the Lomaiviti native is now a public relations officer with giant shipping agency, Swire Shipping.
Mr Malovesi’s dream became a reality after successfully completing secondary school and applied for the job at Swire Shipping.
Swire Shipping is the brand name for all liner shipping services operated by the China Navigation Company Pte Ltd (CNCo).
They have been providing niche, regional, multipurpose shipping services since 1883 when China Navigation Company established liner services in Australia including Fiji.
“Journalism is a profession with profound passion. It is interesting, challenging yet highly rewarding field,” said the 23-year-old.
“You must know what you want, be passionate about it, and then pursue it persistently. Don’t accept no for an answer.
“Be persistent. You must always have a passion for truth, honesty and integrity, and the guts to go out and get the story.
“They bring valuable information to people from all over the world, they are honest and trustworthy (or at least they should be) and they get to meet new and interesting people while travelling across the world.
“I handle all media related work for the company here in the Fiji branch and this includes writing articles for NiuSwire, the global monthly newsletter for Swire Shipping.”
Currently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Human Resource Management and Employment Relations he said nothing was impossible if you dream, believe and have the right attitude towards achieving your dreams.
“Dream Big,” he said.
“I have always believed that commitment and sheer determination in even the tiniest task, is vital in achieving all that we intend to achieve in life.
“Nothing is impossible if you have the right attitude.”
“My advice to young men and women would be to strive to go beyond your limitations, study smart, learn and grow from your failures and set your priorities right always.”
