Fijiana XVs Take On Challenge

The Ro Alivereti Doviverata- coached Fiji Airways Fijiana XVs are confident of doing well in their first international tour.
The team flew out to Sydney, Australia yesterday as they take on the Brumbies Women’s side on June 11 in Canebrra and the New South Wales women’s team on June 16.
Speaking to SUNsports Fijiana XVs co-captain Lailanie Burnes said it’s great to be part of the team.
“We have faith and confidence in the team,” she said.
The objective is to win and we will try our best to archive our objectives. We don’t see any problem on how the girls are fitting in.
“There is a great vibe around the team and the atmosphere is of teamwork. We have been going on with our play as we’re fitting in well.”
The 24-member squad consist of 10 players who making their international debut.
Burnes said this is an excellent opportunity to gain the necessary exposure into international competition, and to gain new knowledge and experience.
The debutants are Raijeli Tale, Sisilia Tinai, Nioni Nai, Mereseini Leivere, Alisi Komaitai, Ema Adi Volasiga, Vaiti Waqatabu, Torika Semo, Lusia Dakuwaqa, Litia Marama, Mela Matanatabu, and Akosita Ravato.
Burnes captained the Fijiana XVs side in 2016 that beat Papua New Guinea and made it to the Women’s Rugby World Cup qualifying round in Hong Kong where they lost to Japan and the host team.
