Union Takes Ministry To Court

The Fiji Teachers Union appeared in the Employment Relations Court yesterday represented by lawyer Damodaran Nair.

FTU is pursuing a civil action against the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts, which was represented by the Attorney-General’s Office.

They appeared before High Court judge Justice Anjala Wati for first call.

The union is challenging the ministry’s decision to take away posts of confirmed heads of schools and other post holders for positions which were evaluated to a value of 15 per cent salary adjustment as a result of the job evaluation exercise.

The case has been adjourned and the case will be called again before Justice Wati on July 24, 2018, for mention.
