Sacred Heart College students, teachers and parents celebrated the Feast of the Sacred Heart at their school premises yesterday.

A former teacher of the college Ana Solouga Malodali said the celebration was about the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

“It is a special feast day in the Catholic calendar where we praise the good Lord Jesus,” Mrs Malodali said.

“Also, the children will get to know his importance in their daily lives.

“The Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ is a heart full of love for all.”

Mrs Malodali is the mother of the head girl of the school Ana Solouga Malodali.

Even after her retirement she always attends this celebration to support her daughter.

The vice principal, Prashila Chandra, said the event was new for her because she had recently joined the school.

“I know this celebration is universal and celebrated all over the world by Catholics,” Mrs Chandra said.

“This is the day when families get together which means teachers, students and parents also get together to honour the feast day and celebrate together.

Culture teacher, Sulita Cakacaka, said the theme for this year’s feast day was connecting with Jesus, It basically means that whatever they do, he said, the behaviour of students throughout the year or years to come should be according to Jesus teachings, values and morality.

The school roll has 600 students and 34 teachers.
