A 26-year-old man charged with one count of murder and another count of breaching a suspended sentence appeared in the Sigatoka Magistrates Court yesterday.

It is alleged that Muni Nandan, also known as Umesh, allegedly murdered a 48-year-old man at Olosara in Sigatoka at about 8.30pm on June 6.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Mohammed Hassan requested the court that the matter be transferred to the High Court in Lautoka and the accused be remanded in custody.

Since it was an indictable offence, Magistrate Tomasi Bainivalu then ordered that the matter be transferred to High Court in Lautoka for mention.

The accused has opted for Legal Aid representation and the case has been adjourned to July 10.

Nandan has been remanded at the Natabua Corrections Centre in Lautoka.
