Zwart Targets 3rd Sheraton Classic

Kiwi professional Pieter Zwart is set to defend his Sheraton Golf Classic 2018 title which gets underway at Denarau Golf & Racquet Club and Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course as from today.
Zwart won the inaugural event in 2011 and 2017 and finished runner up in 2013 and 2015.
“Very good to be back in Fiji, looking forward to play in the two courses,” he said during the Sheraton Golf Classic Professionals and sponsors luncheon on Monday.
“The format is great we have the amateurs mixed with the pros playing in what’s expected to be perfect weather. Every player should be good on the day.”
The 31- year old best hole at the DGRC is No. 4 and at Natadola Bay Championship Golf is No.6.
Sheraton and Westin Resorts Fiji complex general manager Neeraj Chadha said, “It’s always great to see the positive support from local and international golfers and sponsors as we go into our eighth consecutive year.”
Tournament organiser Richard Ellis said, the four-day event is open to local and international players. A total of 250 players will compete for the prize pool of over $150,000.
“Without the sponsors there is no event. This event is generating million of dollars for Tourism Fiji. We are here to generate sports tourism. There is close to 56 overseas teams participating with each team consisting of one professional and three amateur level golfers,” he said.
Players participating are from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, USA, Samoa and Fiji and most had been part of it since its beginning.
