the registration of Co-operative College of Fiji under Fiji Higher Education Commission is key achievement for Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.

While receiving the provisional registration, the Permanent Secretary, Shaheen Ali, thanked the Fiji Higher Education Commission for the support provided in attaining the registration.

“This is an important step towards the Co-operative College developing its services for the Fijian people.

“The Co-operative College of Fiji is tasked with providing the much needed training to the co-operatives stakeholders and micro small medium enterprises in Fiji,” said Mr Ali.

 

Training

Mr Ali further stated that the Co-operative College of Fiji provided training on co-operative management, basic book keeping, roles and responsibilities of members and board of directors and leadership to name a few.

“For any business to succeed, training on business management is critical and co-operatives are no excetion,” he said.

The College will not only be providing trainings to Co-operatives but also to micro, small business entrepreneurs.

In addition, almost 150 potential applicants under the Young Entrepreneur Scheme have gone through the Start Your Business training provided by the College.

The Permanent Secretary highlighted that the Ministry is undertaking comprehensive review of the curriculum to bring it in line with the modern day of doing business.

Monitoring and Evaluation officer of the Fiji Higher Education Commission Eci Naisele, congratulated the Ministry and said that the registration would enable the Co-operative College to continue to raise and maintain the quality of the trainings it offers.
