Twenty civil servants will be leaving for a nine-day Leadership training programme in Shanghai, China, next week.

Sponsored by the Chinese Government, the intensive training will be carried out by the China Executive Leadership Academy of Pudong (CELAP).

It is aimed at strengthening participants’ skills in the areas of public policies implementation, succession planning, projects implementation and service delivery.

Team leader and deputy chief executive officer for iTaukei Affairs Board Josefa Toganivalu on behalf of his team acknowledged the opportunity.

“We do hope that we will learn a lot and we will be able to bring lessons back to assist in building a better Fiji,” he said.

“As a team, we look forward to the trip and we do hope that the People’s Republic of China will always have this training opportunity available for our colleagues.

“And we hope to see more interactions and partnership in the future.”

Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Fiji, Qian Bo while speaking to the nominees said: “As Civil Servants, your role is extremely important for the future of Fiji and China as well”.

“I really hope that you will enjoy yourselves.”

Mr Qian reminded the team to follow the rules and the regulations of the country when they get there.

The training programme is scheduled from June 10 to June 20, 2018.

It is the fifth time Fiji is part of the CELAP training.
