SVC Honours National Swimming Champs

Nadi school scoops boys and girls titles
It was a day of celebration at Swami Vivekananda College in Nadi yesterday as they hosted their 42 swimmers to a lunch.It was as a token of appreciation for winning the Fiji Secondary Schools National Swimming Championship 2018.
The boys snatched the national title away from Marist Brothers High School after securing 26 gold medals, 16 silver and 11 bronze. The girls managed to defend their title as they bagged 19 gold, 24 silver and 6 bronze medals.
SVC manager, Diveshwar Prasad said six swimmers from their school have been chosen to represent Fiji at the 2018 Ocean Swimming Championships held in Papua New Guinea in a few days time. They are Netani Ross, Rosemary Rova, Taichi Vakasama, Requina Jayzon, Mosese Bobby and Damien Kitione.
“This is one of the proudest moments for us as a school to win both the national titles from big schools in Suva,” Prasad said.
“I’m so proud of the boys for managing to take away the boys title from Marist Brothers and bring it to the Western division.
“The girls have done a tremendous job in defending their title for the past six years and they have made so many sacrifices. This is one of the biggest achievements for the school.”
SVC manager, Swami Tadananda said the 42 swimmers have made the school proud and despite not having a swimming pool facility they managed to become national champions.
School principal, Rajesh Krishma said it was an achievement that would go down in the school’s history book.
Boys captain Year 13 student , Taichi Vakasama said, he was proud to represent the school and help bring home the title.
