Marsh Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, confirmed its support of $20,000 for the 30th United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Joint Commission Meeting for East Asia and the Pacific (CAP) and the UNWTO Commission for South Asia (CSA).

The meeting begins today at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa in Nadi.

In receiving the cheque, Permanent Secretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Shaheen Ali, thanked the company for their support, specifically with respect to the theme of seminar and joint meeting, which focuses on climate change and sustainable tourism development.

“Following TC Winston, the Fijian tourism industry has become increasingly vigilant like any other sector and we need to be prepared at all times from shocks, whether it be internal or external.

“This is also reflected in our Fijian Tourism Development Plan (FT2021) where risk management is a key strategy.

“So having an insurance broker on board shows that Fiji’s tourism sector has the right partners in taking us forward”, said Mr Ali.

Practice Leader and Vice President of Marsh Ltd, Ilyaz Koya, stated that Marsh dealt mostly with corporate businesses.

“Thetourism sector is also an important sector for us.

“We do a lot of work around risk management where we consult our clients on their risk exposure and tailor make solutions to cover their risks.

“Marsh is a global leader in insurance broking that has been in Fiji for forty-nine years,” said Mr Koya.

The 30th UNWTO Joint CAP-CSA Meeting and the UNWTO Regional Seminar on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism Development ends on Wednesday
