A total of 314 artisans will showcase their talents when the annual Fiji National Women’s Expo opens at Suva’s FMF Gymnasium today.

The 2018 Fiji National Women’s Expo is the fourth one held under the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism and partnership with the Fiji Arts Council.

Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Josefa Koroivueta said the Government has been providing $500,000 annually for the event. He said they had witnessed an increase in sales for products and the exhibitors had seen growth in their investments.

In 2015, 43 artisans in the rural were qualified to place the Fijian Made logo in their products, which was a milestone achievement for the ministry.

In 2017, another 31 were given the licence and to date, 126 women are now selling their products locally and domestically through the licence. Edited by Ranoba Baoa
