Agriculture Assistant Thankful For Paravet Course

An Agriculture assistant based at the Ministry of Agriculture in Navua is thankful to his employer for providing him with an opportunity to undergo the Paravet training course.
Eroni Soqosoqotabua Kauraki, 28, of Naitutu Village in Tailevu, has been employed with the ministry for the past five years.
He was one of the 31 employees of the ministry to undergo the Paravet training course over the past 16 weeks.
His role is to supervise livestock farmers in Namosi province.
Mr Kauraki said livestock was a major asset for rural households in the province of Namosi and was increasingly regarded as a means of food security and income generation to the rural population.
He said many livestock farmers in his locality faced limited or no accessibility to veterinary services.
“I have seen there is a demand from livestock farmers in my locality on the basic animal health issues and this is best addressed when the knowledge from the training is put in to practice,” Mr Kauraki said.
“I had reached out to farmers in my area of supervision to carry out veterinary services and carry out awareness on animal health services.”
Mr Kauraki said the training course improved their understanding on animal welfare issues in the country and how to deal with the climate change issues.
He said the training broadened their knowledge, improved their abilities and provided them with opportunities to give better services. Edited by Epineri Vula
