President Farewells UN Resident Rep

The President, Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote, received a farewell courtesy call from the outgoing UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident co-ordinator Osnat Lubrani at Borron House on Wednesday.

During their meeting, President Konrote acknowledged the work carried out by UNDP, in particular its assistance during Fiji’s natural disasters.

Ms Lubrani said that her time in Fiji had been memorable and she also noted the progress that Fiji has made over the past 5 years during her tenure.

Ms Lubrani has been at the helm of the Fiji Multi-Country Office covering 10 Pacific island countries since 2013.

Her replacement is yet to be confirmed.

Visit by Universal Postal Union

Meanwhile, President Konrote also received a courtesy call from the Director General of the Universal Postal Union Mishar Abdirahman Hussein at Borron House.

Mr Hussein is in the country currently attending a regional workshop on postal financial services development and UPU trademark implementation in the Pacific.

Mr Hussein was first elected as Director General of the UPU International Bureau on 10th October during the 25th Universal Postal Congress in Doha.
