Bulitavu and Karunaratne are serving prison sentences after being convicted for sedition.

An appeal hearing for former Parliamentarian Mosese Bulitavu, 35, and businessman Jagath Karunaratne, 50, will take place on July 20, 2018.

The date was set yesterday in the High Court in Suva by judge Justice Vinsent Perera.

Defence lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo appeared for both men.

Justice Perera gave time until July 2, 2018, for the appli­cants to file their submissions in Court and gave time until July 16, 2018, for the respondents to file their response be­fore hearing on July 20.

Bulitavu and Karunaratne are serving prison sentences after being convicted for sedition.

Bulitavu was sentenced to two years, five months and 13 days imprisonment, while Karunaratne was sentenced to two years, five months and 16 days imprisonment.

They were sentenced on April 30, 2018, in the Suva Mag­istrates Court.

Both men are appealing their sentence and conviction.
