Poll: Kepa Beats Rabuka On Home Turf

Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa commands a strong lead over SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka on his home turf, the latest Fiji Sun/Razor poll reveals.

While Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama leads by a huge margin at 74 per cent in the Northern Division, Ro Teimumu comes in at second.

She polled 17 per cent while Mr Rabuka scored five per cent.

Nationally, Ro Teimumu and Mr Rabuka are both on 11 per cent in the preferred Prime Minister stakes following the 2018 General Election.

The seesawing battle between Ro Teimumu and Mr Rabuka reflects the internal battle that has been raging between Mr Rabuka’s camp and Ro Teimumu’s group.

The Northern Division can be said to be a powerbase of Mr Rabuka since he hails from Cakaudrove.

To be beaten in the weekly poll by Ro Teimumu in his  stronghold is a worrying sign for Mr Rabuka.

Ro Teimumu has not even started her campaign, let alone in Vanua Levu. On the contrary, Mr Rabuka has been campaigning up and down the country.

National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad, who is from Labasa, has polled a paltry 3 per cent.

Fiji Sun/ Razor poll is conducted in a face-to-face interview with 1000 people, 500 in the Central Division, 300 in the Western Division and 200 in the Northern Division in the run-up to the election.

Meanwhile, 66 per cent of people polled nationwide think that the condition of Fijian roads are better today compared to four years ago.

25 per cent say that the conditions are not better off compared with four years ago, nine per cent were unsure.

FijiFirst has continued to dominate the polls nationwide and Mr Bainimarama continues to poll strongly as the preferred Prime Minister.
