Topex Numbers Keep Increasing

The Top Executives (TOPEX)Conference is one not to be missed especially for executives in this ever changing world.
Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) immediate and past president Himen Chandra said every year the number of participants were increasing.
FCEF is hosting the TOPEX two day Conference that ends today at the Sofitel Resort and Spa, Nadi.
“When we first started TOPEX ,there was only 40 participants, now the number has grown,” Mr Chandra said.
“However what we realised and found out over the last few years of TOPEX every year the bench is rising.
“Last year we had 180 participants, this year we have more than 200 participants and every year we have seen an increase of 20 to 30 per cent.
He said they are already contemplating how they would accommodate participants if the number of participants keep on increasing, said it was a good problem to have.
He noted that it was very encouraging that a lot of executives are now participating in this conference.
“Every time the demand is increasing and every time we try to improve the services that we offer in terms of TOPEX,” Mr Chandra said.
“So, this year there are fine and brilliant speakers and topics that are very attractive and that is what top executives want to listen to and participate in.
“The idea behind TOPEX, we need to get ideas, we need to get information and we need to create a work plan for the year and work towards it.”
He said topics for the conference this year was brainstormed over six months.
“Because the federation has nine councils, they very interactively came up with gaps that they have discussed, then we pick our topics and relevant speakers for TOPEX.
“So we know exactly what the burning topics out there that the government, corporate, public and private sector want to listen to and address.
Success stories:
“A big success story for TOPEX was last year on the controversial issue of training.
“There were presenters from universities, the Fiji Higher Education Commission and other institutions where we discussed on how to address the gaps of trainings.
“After all that discussion, FCEF signed an Memorandum Of Understanding with Fiji Higher Education Commission.
“The MOU is bringing the training sessions to a standard that is required in the industry in terms of what is to be delivered. “We have to start somewhere and we are proud to have started.
“TOPEX is something that you get to learn a lot from and get the platform to give input, participate and have fun.”
