Officers and sailors of the Fijian Navy involved in the grounding of the RFNS Kiro at Cakauyawa Reef in July  2016 will face the Court Martial tomorrow at the Queen Elizabeth’s Barracks (QEB).

The reef, near Makuluva Island, is located 10 kilometres outside of Suva.

This was confirmed to the Fiji Sun by Lieutenant Commander Timoci Natuva (Junior).

He said all officers and sailors involved were still working for the Fijian Navy.

“The Fijian Navy will await for the ruling made by the Court Martial if any action is to be taken against them,” Lt Commander Natuva (Junior) said.

“Their case will be the first to be heard at Court Martial on June 26.”

Meanwhile, Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) staff coordination officer Captain Eroni Duaibe said those involved in the alleged rape of a female soldier would also  appear before the Court
Martial.

“Another case to be heard by the Court Martial is the alleged theft of RFMF funds,” he said.
