The Pakistani Community in Fiji held an auspicious event and entertained guests and close families to commemorate the holy day of Eid-ul-Fitr over the weekend.

For those in attendance at the event and the many other Muslims throughout Fiji, this is the final chapter of a long yet rewarding month of Ramadan.

Guests were served vibrant delicacies and rich delights.

Community representative Saud Minam said for the many Pakistanis living in Fiji this day allowed for a reason to unite in each other’s company and appreciate the presence of such a close-knit community so many miles from home.

“For this particular occasion, the gathering was a one-dish event where each family brought their personal favorite Pakistani dish leading to a lunch table that was brimming with scrumptious curries, a delectable assortment of breads and luscious desserts,” Mr Minam said.

“As always the event was awash with colours, the women fashioning bright, vivacious shalwar kameez complimented by bold and kurtas worn proudly by the men.”

He said that it had always been supportive and embraced the different cultures of its citizens, a key factor for any successful progressive nation.
