Pm Answers Women’s Request For A Boat

In line with Government’s vision to raise living standards as well as make life more accessible for people in the rural areas, a fibreglass boat with engine was given to the Drodromalua Women’s Group.
The women of Drodromalua at Vaturova in Cakaudrove had made the request to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama during his visit to the province last year.
The boat and engine valued at $16,984 was handed over by the Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea on Friday.
Mr Vocea said the new fibreglass boat would assist the Women’s Group in pearl farming.
He said the assistance was also part of the Government’s initiative of ensuring that no one was left behind.
“Today, we are celebrating that initiative by our Fijian Government,” Mr Vocea said.
“Before the Drodromalua women would have to go to the nearby Korotasere Village to ask for their boat for this purpose.
“I hope the donations will be used wisely to benefit the group’s social club in pearl farming.”
Group president Vasiti Suka acknowledged the Government of the day for the timely assistance.
“The village had trouble with the pearl farming business over the years because they did not have a proper mode of transportation,” Ms Suka said.
“There is a boat that assists us, but sometimes the owner is using it and we cannot do much.
“So we are extremely pleased with the Prime Minister for giving us a boat to assist us in our business.
“The timely assistance is all possible through his kindness and God’s grace,” she added.
