Former Fijian 7s rep charged with one count of serious assault has been granted bail with strict bail conditions.

Isake Katonibau appeared before Magistrate Liyanage Wickramasekara in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

He was granted bail on a cash bond of $1000 while his two sureties had signed the surety bond of $3000 each and $5000 personal bail bond.

A travel ban was also issued by Magistrate Wickramasekara who ordered Katonibau to surrender all his travel documents.

Magistrate Wickramasekara had ordered Katonibau not to interfere with any of the prosecution witnesses.

It is alleged that on June 17, 2018 at about 4am Katonibau was involved in a brawl along Carnavon Street where he allegedly punched Special Constable Peni Verekauta, who was trying to stop the fight.

Katonibau as a Lieutenant of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces is also a Company Commander.

The matter is adjourned to August 13, for plea to be taken.
