20,445 Aided During Cyclones Keni, Josie

The Fiji Red Cross Society reached 20,445 people during tropical cyclones Keni and Josie earlier this year.
Director general Filipe Nainoca said the cyclone victims were supplied with water containers, hygiene kits, shelters kits, clothes and other necessities.
“At the end of April this year, FRCS assisted 333 communities, villages and evacuation centres who were affected by TC Keni and Josie,” he said.
“This was mainly in Kadavu and the Western part of Fiji.”
He said there were 2458 water containers, 2001 aqua tablets, 1559 hygiene kits, 1384 dignity kits, 656 blankets, 521 backpacks, 193 shelter kits, 649 tarpaulins, 74 solar, 404 cooking sets and 102 plastics of clothes distributed to those affected.
“We continue to carry out community preparedness, and awareness to ensure people take a proactive approach towards their disaster preparedness,” Mr Nainoca said.
