Fiji Airways Fijian 7s captain Seremaia TuwaI could be playing in his last tournament at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco, next month.

He made his debut for Fiji at the Gold Coast Sevens in 2014

“I have played in the Olympics and the World Sevens Series in the last four years and the RWCS is my last tournament,” Tuwai said.

The 29 year-old applauded the support of all the players since he took up the captaincy role from Osea Kolinisau.

“I’m so blessed that there are some leaders in the team like Jasa Veremalua and Vatemo Ravouvou who really helped me.”

Coach Gareth Baber said some of the players might get overseas contracts after the RWCS.

“This could be Tuwai’s last tournament and a few players as well.  “They will get offers from overseas and for people like Tuwai, who chose to represent Fiji, is what I am hugely grateful for,” Baber said.

“Like Osea, there are contracts for the players, post-world cup and heading into the Olympics and they will make those decisions now.”

Baber said right now all his focus will be on the world cup.

He added that Paula Dranisinukula has really stepped-up during the season and has the potential to be the captain.

“I would look at some players who have developed over the years like Dranisinukula.

“He has been outstanding, he knows what he wants, he trains hard and he goes by example.”
