The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Iowane Naivalurua is happy with the ministry’s budget allocation.

“We should be happy with whatever allocation is given to us,” he said.

“We have to manage the allocation properly.”

The total budget for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 2018 – 2019 announced by the Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is $47 million.

$43.8m for operating expenditure, $1.6m for capital expenditure and VAT of $1.7m.

According to the Minister of Economy the increase of $3.1m in the ministry’s 2018 – 2019 operational expenditure is mainly attributed to increases in other operating  expenditure by $1.1m to travel and communications, maintenance and purchase of goods and services

And $600,000 for salary adjustments to executive positions.
